Profile
Mr. Moore’s practice is centered on real estate and probate matters. He also represents defendants in litigated matters. Mr. Moore has represented most of the major lenders in the north Alabama market and borrowers from those lenders. He assists industrial clients in negotiating and obtaining attractive tax and economic incentives for industrial expansion throughout Alabama. He is an agent for First American and Mississippi Valley Title Insurance companies and routinely issues owners and lenders policies on both commercial and residential property. He represents commercial lenders in collecting from delinquent borrowers. He represents creditor clients in foreclosure proceedings and in bankruptcy court. He represents clients with zoning requests, variances, annexations, vacations of easements and rights of way, and appears before the local Board of Zoning Adjustment and the Planning Commission and its subcommittees. He handles appeals from the decisions of these bodies.
Mr. Moore represents city and county boards of education in the acquisition of real property for new school campuses. He negotiates participation agreements between municipalities, landowners, and boards of education in the development of school campuses, and collaborates with board officials and their consultants in making due-diligence assessments of property being considered for school purposes. Mr. Moore also represents the interests of boards of education in the sale and lease of real estate no longer needed for educational purposes. One such transaction required legislation to assure title in a local board of education. Mr. Moore works with the State Board of Education and the State School Architect while assisting a county board with the sale of school property titled to the State of Alabama. Mr. Moore negotiates joint-use agreements between school boards and local universities, and with city and county governments.
In representing his clients, Mr. Moore enjoys a positive working relationship with the staffs of the Planning, Engineering, Inspection, Community Development, and Legal Departments of the City of Huntsville. He serves as a hearing officer for the City of Huntsville for matters arising under its personnel policies and procedures.
