Firm attorneys participate in employment law seminar
On November 17, 2015, David Canupp, Travis Jackson, Christopher Pape, and Lauren Smith participated in a 1-day seminar on employment law sponsored by the National Business Institute (NBI). The seminar was designed for managers, supervisors, and human resources professionals.
You can download copies of the slides from their presentations:
- Avoiding Wage and Hour Violations, David Canupp.
- Managing Employee Leaves of Absence, Travis Jackson.
- Monitoring Employees: Privacy issues and Employer Risks, Christopher Pape.
- Putting in Place Document Retention Programs, Lauren Smith.
All four attorneys practice in the area of employment law, representing both private- and public-sector employers. Mr. Jackson’s practice is primarily concentrated in defending employers against workers’ compensation claims and advising employers about employee leave policies. Mr. Canupp, Mr. Pape, and Ms. Smith advise employers about and defend employers against claims arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), various antidiscrimination laws (race, sex, disability, color, religion, and so forth), and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). In addition, these attorneys have reviewed numerous employee handbooks on behalf of the employers who issue them.
