Rod Lewis to participate in seminar about special education law

Lanier Ford attorney Rod Lewis will be a presenter in a seminar entitled “Alabama Special Education Law,” sponsored by the National Business Institute. The seminar will be held on two different dates—May 1 and May 4—in two different locations: Birmingham and Montgomery.

Mr. Lewis will address two major topics in the all-day seminar:

  1. Successfully handling disciplinary actions for special needs students.
  2. Ensuring successful due-process procedures.

Mr. Lewis regularly advises school administrators about the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and related laws. He also regularly represents school districts in state and federal courts, mediation sessions, and administrative due-process hearings.
